Farmville: What is it and why is it so popular?
Farmville is currently one of the most popular social games in the world. On November 9th 2009 it has 63.7 million active users online. What is it that makes Farmville so special, and what exactly is it?
It's a social game being played on Facebook and Myspace by millions of people. The game is about farming as the title tells you, but it's way more than that. Farmville is a social community where you and your friends can build up farms by harvesting crops, keeping animals and decorate it as much as you want. When you start the game, you begin with measly 6 squares of empty land. It is your job to create a farming empire by harvesting crops and selling your produce so that you can increase in levels. No one knows exactly how many levels there are, but you get lots of bonuses and most importanly Farmville cash or dollar as you increase levels. In a way it's like a role playing game (RPG) if you are familiar with that term (like World of Warcraft). When you do certain tasks, you increase in experience points which allows you to increase in levels as soon as a certain goal has been reached.
This game is so hugely popular and shows an incredible increase in users. Right now there are probably almost 70 million playing the game, giving gifts to friends and having fun on Farmville.
Life isn't always easy on Farmville and it takes a lot of time and effort to increase levels. It helps if you have friends, which is where the social part comes in. Your friends can sign up to be your neighbor in the game allowing you to increase your land area and get other bonuses as well. A neat thing about this game is that it will help you to help others. If you see a fox on your friend's farm, chase it away! Bad seeds? You can fix that as well. This will give you Farmville experience points and coins which are the most normal monetary system in Farmville.
Farmville cash (or dollars) is almost impossible to get because you are no longer able to earn that by filling out surveys. On November 8th 2009, Zynga, the creators of Farmville, removed that possibility because people were being scammed into signing up for things and downloading malicious software. The only way to acquire Farmville cash now is to either spend real money to buy it or get 1 dollar per level you increase (although that's not happening a lot either). That's the main issue most people have with this game.
Despite the problems, there is no shortage of players in this game which increase by the second. Zynga has created a monster hit that can't be stopped. If you haven't played this game before, you need to try it and if you are playing it, you know what I am talking about.
If you are struggling to increase levels and get Farmville cash you need to read this guide I just found…
